You can take a look at my snap shots of completed projects, some timber pictures of things I just like and the odd picture of timber furniture which is not mine but I liked enough to add to my photos.
Here is a great looking setting we delivered last week.
Thanks to Belinda for sending in the photo.
The recycled messmate table is 2700mm long and the locally made chairs feature this bold stripe from Warwick Fabrics.
The design brief was recycled rustic timber tops with steel frames for that industrial look and approximately twice per year the company would like to link the two tables together moving them from separate rooms into the larger boardroom.
This created some careful thinking because each table would weigh in excess of 100kg. The result was we designed the tables in 2 halves. The metal base design incorporated inset legs at the middle with large industrial castor wheels.
This allows the table to be picked up at one end much like a wheelbarrow and transported easily into the next room when required.
Try Chobani Yoghurt next time your in the supermarket and if you need a timber boardroom table try me!
My Team member Ray got this email and pictures from one of our clients this week. Thanks for the photos Paul.
“This is how the installed wine cabinets look. as, I said, you gave me a much cheaper option for the cellar. The compartments are screwed together, and fixed at the top with ‘L ‘ brackets to the wall. Very solid! You might want to market this idea to other customers.Perhaps you had better order a few dozen more!” Thanks again for your smart idea. Paul
We currently stock these beautiful 31 bottle timber wine racks. $299 each.
Each box is 770mm wide x 620mm high and 300mm deep and holds 31 bottles but they could easily be fixed to walls and screwed together to make a full wall of timber wine racks to house 100’s of bottles.
They are an oak timber and the colour is a medium walnut stain which looks classy and brings out the grain nicely. They cannot be made to order and come in this one colour only.
We had a client in the showroom this week who stopped to look closely at the wine racks before telling us he had been quoted over $5500 to deck out a small section of his home as a wine cellar. He promptly purchased 7x of our new wine racks at $299 each saving himself over $3400 he was rapt.
Needless to say our first set of 10x have sold out and we have another 10 on the way.
They would make a great stand alone wine rack and a great Christmas present also for someone special.
This week we had a unique project to complete which was to re furbish an 80 year old Blackwood table.
The table is full of history as it used to reside within the Collingwood town hall. The timbers run across the table top which is unusual and the thickness of the top is 45mm thick.
The blackwood table has some gorgeous grains and textures.
The top of the table has been fully refinished and re assembled as there were gaps in the boards and lots of marks scratches and dents.
The top is now beautiful and new again and good for another 100 odd years.
Would love to have this one in my own home.
I recently had a TV dinner with the kids and sat around the coffee table in the lounge room and shared a dish of nachos.
It was Nachos supreme including guacamole, sour crème and assorted toppings.
I retrieved the corked back placemats we have and laid them on the coffee table surface.
The baking dish was taken from the oven and put on top of the placemats.
I assumed this would be an adequate barrier for the heat but unfortunately I was wrong and when clearing the table an hour or so later found that the heat has scolded my table leaving the white patches you see in the picture below.
Of course this type of damage can be fixed but its a bit of work and needs to be done properly.
The job involves sanding and removing the damage, re-staining and sealing and then tops coats of clear finish.
The average price of repair is about $350 to re do the surface. The results when done properly are usually excellent and the table surface is returned to basically brand new.
I will post pictures shortly once I have had my coffee table repaired.
If you have damaged your table in a similar way get in touch we may be able to help you.
I’ve been fortunate enough to be given the honour of displaying the 2013 Timber Table of the year as awarded by the Australian Furniture Association.
Its proudly displayed in my showroom in Nunawading.
Its a credit to the young man who produced it.
Jonathon has done a wonderful job, his attention to detail and unique design makes for one of the most beautiful tables I have seen locally crafted in my 23 years experience.
We invite you in to take a look at the table for yourself, it is available for sale, contact me if you are interested.
We regularly make bookcases to order to suit our clients homes. We make bookcases in Vic Ash, Messmate, Blackwood, Jarrah and other timbers on request.
We usually use a combination of solid timbers and veneers especially if our clients request adjustable shelves.
Our bookcases can incorporate doors with glass or timber inserts, fixed or adjustable shelves, box type design with open backs or just the traditional straight shelf right across the cabinet.
The majority of our bookcases are locally made so instead of just settling for the standard sizes of 1800, 2100 and widths of 600, 900 or 1200 you can have a bookcase perfectly sized to suit your home.
If you bring in the dimensions or email them in we can usually quote it within 24 hours.
This way the bookcase is perfectly suited to your home and maximises your storage.
We can also stain bookcases to blend with your exiting desk and file cabinets or any other furniture item in your home.
Timber talk by
Its not because they are too heavy, but they will weigh a tonne!
Its not because its too hard to make them.
Its because the supply of long Redgum timbers is very hard to find in the industry.
We have made Redgum tables 3300mm and 3600mm in the past but we have often had to quote a much slower lead time than the normal 6-8 weeks.
We quote around 12 weeks to give us enough time to ring around our timber suppliers and actually locate appropriate boards to enable us to do the job.
I just been chatting with one of my timber merchants and suppliers here in my Nunawading showroom and he has advised me he has just secured some 4300mm Redgum timbers.
That means if you in the market for a BIG Redgum table locally made you should get in touch with me right now.
